Jasmine and Arpan first crossed paths in the same 4th grade class at Challenger Elementary School in San Jose, CA. Although they weren’t close friends at the time, they shared a lot of mutual friends so they stayed in touch and saw each other at birthday parties and events over the years.

Over a decade later, they met again after Arpan’s performance at Bollywood Berkeley, UC Berkeley's Bollywood fusion dance competition (Arpan’s brother Aman was actually the president of the club at the time). Jasmine told a mutual friend that she thought Arpan was cute and he passed the message along. Arpan approached Jasmine and asked her to dance. They exchanged numbers and texted nonstop for the next few weeks. Not long after, he visited her at Cal and met all of her friends. That weekend, Jasmine took Arpan to his first college party and they left early to sit on the roof and look at the stars.

Jasmine took BART down to Fremont to meet Arpan, who was waiting to pick her up with a bouquet of flowers. Arpan pulled out all the stops for a perfect first date - an Italian dinner, romantic walk with gelato, movie, boba, and a stay at a fancy hotel. Both of them remember an instant connection, amazing conversations, no awkward silences, and beginning to realize that this relationship could be something special.

The first time Jasmine met Arpan’s friends! Professional photographer Raymond Yu did an impromptu photoshoot - this was the picture that made them Instagram official and still sits framed on Arpan's nightstand to this day.

Jasmine and Arpan met up at Coachella, where he officially asked her to be his girlfriend. Arpan still says this was the best Coachella lineup to date. Highlights include performances from Kendrick Lamar, Porter Robinson, and Future (who brought out Drake as a surprise guest!) Arpan will never let Jasmine forget that she made him miss Nav’s breakout performance where he brought out the Weeknd.

Arpan flew across the country to visit Jasmine in New York City, where she was staying for the summer doing research at NYU. Highlights included - getting their picture up in Times Square, canoeing through Central Park, and watching the Warriors win the NBA finals (a fact Arpan insisted we include in our wedding timeline).

Jasmine and Arpan’s first trip together to Hawaii! This was Arpan’s first time meeting Jasmine's grandparents, who live there.

Arpan was admitted to UC Berkeley, Haas School of Business. This was a big deal because it meant that they could finally be closer in distance. Mr. and Mrs. Chopra attribute Arpan’s Cal acceptance to his strong desire to be closer to Jasmine :)

Jasmine graduated from UC Berkeley in the spring of 2019, and Arpan graduated the following year. Both are proud Berkeley Bears for life!

The two sheltered in place together during COVID-19. They spent their time making Bollywood fusion covers on TikTok for fun.

Jasmine was admitted to Georgetown University School of Medicine! At this time, Arpan was working at his first job out of undergrad at PwC. They decided to move to Washington, D.C. together.

Jasmine, Arpan, and their elderly kitty Snaps moved across the country to start a new life on the East Coast.

A ragdoll kitty named Mandu was welcomed to the family and instantly became the center of their lives. Arpan wanted to name him Chicken but Jasmine immediately vetoed (thank god).

Arpan proposed to Jasmine at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. A surprise party was waiting at their apartment for Jasmine when they returned home that night.

The very next day, Jasmine and Arpan flew home to celebrate their engagement with their families and best friends. Mrs. Chopra and Sowmya choreographed a surprise dance for the occasion.

Jasmine was accepted to a year-long research fellowship in New York, where they will be moving in June of this year. You'll find them on the Upper East Side, eating their way through the city.
